Rosie O'Donnell started performing her stand-up routines at age 18, and she began touring in 1981. She soon landed stints on the NBC sitcom "Gimme a Break" and as producer-host of VH-1's "Stand Up Spotlight," which gave her an outlet for her earthy humor and helped broaden her appeal. This great comedian first made her mark on the film industry as Doris Murphy, the third basewoman with the mouth of a truck driver, in Penny Marshall's 1992 hit, "A League of Their Own." O'Donnell then offered strong support to Meg Ryan in "Sleepless in Seattle" and co-starred with Richard Dreyfus and Emilio Estevez in "Another Stakeout," both released in 1993. O'Donnell next co-starred as Betty Rubble in the popular live-action feature version of "The Flintstones,". After filming the children's movie "Harriet the Spy," she began hosting her own syndicated daily talk-variety show, “The Rosie O’Donnell Show.” She opted to switch career tracks to the television industry in order to be a full-time mother to her adopted children. Hailed by “Newsweek” as "The Queen of Nice," O'Donnell is a gracious, frank, perky, and brazenly hilarious host. Most recently, she provided the voice for Terk, Tarzan's best gorilla pal, in the Disney animated hit “Tarzan”.
