Diana Nyad


Diana Nyad was front page news throughout the western world, the lead story for Walter Cronkite on the CBS Evening News, and many times guest of the Tonight Show. For ten years, Diana was the greatest long-distance swimmer in the world. She broke numerous world records, including the fifty-year- old record for circling Manhattan Island (7 hours, 57 minutes) in 1975. In 1986, Diana was inducted into the National Women’s Sports Hall of Fame. She is also a hall of famer at her college and high school. Diana Nyad is currently the senior sports correspondent for Fox Sports News, investigating stories such as the use of performance-enhancing drugs by athletes. In addition to her duties in front of the camera, Diana writes and produces all her own stories. Diana is also the current host of all foreign documentaries for the Outdoor Life Network. Her specials have ranged in subject from the elusive leopard of Belize to the Leatherback Turtle in Costa Rica. Diana is also heard by eight million people each week on National Public Radio’s Morning Edition.
