Laura D'Andrea Tyson


An economist interested in “real world” problems, Dr. Laura D’Andrea Tyson has earned her reputation as an authority on U.S. economic competitiveness, global markets and the high-tech industry. She applied her expertise as National Economic Advisor to the President and Chairman of the Council of Economic Advisors during the first term of the Clinton Presidency and was the highest-ranking woman in the Clinton White House. As the nation’s top economic advisor, Dr. Tyson managed all economic policy-making throughout the executive branch and was a key architect of the domestic and international economic strategy that fostered the longest and strongest period of economic expansion in U.S. history. Dr. Tyson has also had an incredible impact on education. She became London Business School's first female dean in January 2002-2006 — the first woman to head a top-10 international business school. During her tenure, Dr. Tyson founded The Lehman Brothers Center for Women in Business. Previously, Dr. Tyson was Dean of the Haas School of Business at the University of California at Berkeley.
